Barker Fairley Lane

The residents’ association in Harbord Village — the neighbourhood just west of U of T — has undertaken a terrific project to name the many laneways in the neighbourhood, and today there was a really nice unveiling ceremony for Barker Fairley Lane, named for the famous University College professor who lived on nearby Willcocks Street for many years.

If you are fond of Toronto’s laneways, I recommend the beautiful art book Albert Franck, keeper of the lanes; and another Toronto art book that looks interesting is Michael Cho’s Back alleys and urban landscapes.
